A Swimsuit:¬†if you’re headed to the beach, this is likely an obvious addition to your packing list, but if you’re headed to the mountains, you certainly don’t want to miss out on any apres ski jacuzzi opportunities! Stash a swimsuit in your luggage because you never know when you’ll need one!

One Pair of Jeans: choose your favorite fit –skinny, bootcut or boyfriend– in a dark wash that you can dress up, down and wear on the plane.

One Cardigan: even if you’re in a sunny locale, you’ll likely have to deal with chilly air conditioning. Keep a classic cardi on hand for an easy layer.

One Scarf: pack yours in a lighter weight with a color or pattern to add a stylish finish to any outfit! Bonus–it works as a bohemian chic headband to keep your hair in place on a windy day.

One Maxi Skirt: if you’re heading somewhere that’s still cold, wear yours with tights, boots and a sweater for a winterized maxi style. For a beach vacay, this piece has a lot of warm weather versatility and can be styled as a skirt for day or a dress for night.

A Pair of Comfortable Flats: because they slip on and off, not only are these shoes great for travel, but they also work perfectly for both daytime and nighttime looks.

One Jersey T-Shirt: comfortable, breathable, and versatile, a jersey top works well as a building block for a variety of outfits. Choose one in a neutral black, white or gray to pair with the greatest number of outfits.

  1. I was wondering what your thoughts are on maxi skirts for short people! I am 5ft and have always not wanted to wear them. I always feel that they would make me feel shorter.

    • Hi Anita,
The maxi skirt has really evolved over the past couple years and is now available in a range of lengths depending on the style and brand. Maxi skirts can actually elongate your frame. The great thing about this style is you can adjust to wear the skirt high on your waist, which I would recommend and this piece can even double as a tube dress! Also, a great wedge can really complements this style and will give you that extra height you are looking for. Remember, in the end it’s all about how you carry yourself, so have fun and never limit yourself!

  2. Great checklist. I’m loving the new slip on sneakers for travel to places like Las Vegas where you’re walking constantly but still want to look cute in the daytime.

  3. I would love to see pix of items your stylists put together using the suggestions from this list. I’m very packing impaired so I think visuals would help me!

  4. This all sounds good for my trip but the maxi skirt….I could get in trouble with it and wear it more than I should. : o

Leave love!
