How to Wear Colored Denim: Pairing Neutrals

While color blocking your fall colored denim builds a bold look around this new closet staple, using neutrals to build your outfit creates a more classic look.

Fall Colored Denim 2

Get The Look: Pairing Neutrals

Neutrals look great with the rich shades of fall’s colored denim, so look for a color that will flatter your skin tone. We suggest choosing a top in black, white, nude or grey! For accessories, continue to steer clear of bright colors and stay in the more subdued, neutral hues. To finish off our look we selected gold jewelry with white accents and a pair of classic, cognac-hued riding boots.

  1. Love this combo! I’ve been looking for a new pair of boots in that great neutral. What brand are they? Makes me wish for cooler days!!

  2. I bought some magenta jeans which I love but they are hard to match for me…I’m going to try this but what other things would you recommend for that color of jeans?
    Thanks :-)

    • Hi Ana!

Magenta is such a fun color and presents a great opportunity to play with tonal colors Pairing your magenta jean with a plum purple or rich pink would be stunning! Or you can keep within the royal family of colors by pairing back to a royal blue. Check out our post on how to create tonal outfit! If that’s too daring of a combo for you, you can never go wrong with black or grey either to create a super chic look.

  4. Do you have a good source for riding boots with a short shaft — I need a shaft height of about 14 inches because of my height. Unfortunately I’ve not had a lot of luck with “tall” boots for short women.
