Summer is all about tanks and baring a little more skin than usual. But, it also means (sigh), complicated wardrobe challenges. We’re taking the worry out of your trickiest tank styles with clever (and supportive) bra solutions for each.

1. The Strapless Bra

Showing some shoulder? Keep everything supported and no straps in sight with a strapless bra. Ladies with a smaller chest can get away with a bandeau bra (see below!), but for those who need a little more support, spring for an underwire strapless bra for maximum support.

2. The Bandeau Bra

Keep your straps under wraps with a bandeau bra. Classic bandeau bras are usually constructed as a single “loop” of fabric with no straps, which works just fine for less-busty women. For those who need more support, look for a bandeau bra with underwire and molded, individual cups for extra support.

3. The Convertible Bra

This is your BB. Your bra-bestie. These underappreciated, shape-shifters can wear more than one hat, too. Why? Well, no matter what your tank top summer style vibes are, this team player can modify accordingly. Racerback? Check. One-shoulder top? Check. Cross-back? Check. The options are almost endless.

4. The Bralette

If your go-to warm weather look is a cold shoulder top, mix it up this summer and try a classic bralette as your base layer. If you’re already showing some skin—why not have some fun with your lingerie style! Wearing a bralette gives the opportunity to show a hint of lace or something extra like a bright, bold color or geometric print. These aren’t for the busty ladies though. If you need more support, a full coverage demi cup bra will do you right.

5. The Underwire Bra

Ban the straps no more. If you’re wearing a slinky, spaghetti strap top—you can let your straps show (or if you’re really daring and feel comfortable—go braless.) We do have one rule though, be sure to match your bra straps to the same color (or similar color) to your top. If neither of those options fit within your comfort zone, our Stylists have been known to offer up strapless or a racerback option as alternatives to the angel hair thin straps of summer.
